anatole’s little saucepan
From ages 3 and up | 2015
Anatole is always dragging his little saucepan behind him. It gets stuck everywhere and keeps him from going places. One day, he has had enough. He decides to hide. Luckily, things are not quite that simple…
Anatole and his saucepan evoke another way of being in our world, of looking at it and perceiving it; another way, at times funny, strange or poetic, of going through life. Anatole lags behind, often missing the point, but he is also well ahead, in places where other people have forgotten to be.
Each one of us is also Anatole with his saucepan. We drag along baggage, “saucepans”, that weigh us down and embarrass us. Unable to get rid of them, we must learn to become comfortable with our baggage and even to transcend it. Anatole’s saucepan is perhaps more visible but his journey is akin to our own: the search to comprehend that our imperfections are often just strengths that are harder to love.
